John has been involved in the field of counselling consultancy since 1988. He established Quo Vadis Counselling Consultancy in 1993. This organisation has been providing counselling, self-development and training seminars for individuals, couples, groups and private and corporate institutions.
As a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Registered Practitioner and Registered Trainer John subscribes to its ethical framework regarding ‘good practice’ standards. His aim is to provide a safe, welcoming environment where training can be an enriched learning experience.
John is a Senior Consultant for Inspire Knowledge & Leadership, facilitating training in areas such as Emotional Intelligence, Emotional Resilience, Stress Management, Critical Incident Stress Debriefing, Mental Health Awareness, Bereavement and Loss. This training has been delivered across manufacturing, agri-food, education, financial, ICT, emergency services, public sector and voluntary. John manages the provision of counselling services for St Mary’s University College. Through his involvement in Solution Focused Brief Therapy, John was instrumental in organising the workshops in Belfast in 1990’s conducted by its founder Steve de Shazer.
John is also a Registered Independent Counsellor with the UK register of counsellors. He is a member of the Irish Institute of Adlerian Counselling and Psychology and an associate member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
As an accredited counsellor trainer, John has facilitated a range of counselling programmes from postgraduate university modules to community based projects.
