A diverse leader with passion for fairness and equity, Sandra has been a Diversity and Inclusion consultant for over 12 years. Her areas of interest and expertise include but not limited to, gender, race and disability. She has developed specific expertise in delivering award winning and large-scale Diversity and Inclusion transformation programmes in gender and race as well as developing reciprocal mentoring schemes.
Sandra started out working in the Home Office as a policy officer to the Equalities Minister and later moved to the Police Service where she worked with Chief Officers to implement the recommendations of the Macpherson report into the death of the black teenager, Stephen Lawrence. Working in a number of large and small organisations, Sandra has engaged in a range of projects which have included, developing inclusive leadership programmes for senior leaders, carrying out diversity and inclusion audits, developing and implementing Equality Strategies and implemented diversity initiatives to support role specific underrepresentation of Black and Minority Ethnic staff. She has also designed, and delivered positive action programmes and bespoke Equality, Diversity and Inclusion training.
Sandra has coached and mentored BAME staff through setting up a cross-institutional mentoring programme called BMentor. The programme was shortlisted for two national awards in 2014: the ENEI Tapping into Talent award and the Race for Opportunity Developing Talent (Progression) Award. As well as coaching staff within the work place, she also coaches and mentors BAME Graduates as member of the Windsor Fellowship. Sandra is well versed in the use of national accreditation frameworks such as Athena SWAN and the Race Equality Charter Mark having gained Silver and Bronze awards respectively.
